"Waseosa Waiting"

2008/02/10 Usually I have something everyday (like an EDM) to post, but I have been working away on this instead. My 2008 goal is to work for 300 or more days this year. So far, I am 38 out of 40! (Yay me!) This water colour and acrylic ink painting was done from a photograph I took a week ago today on Lake Waseosa. 8.5"x11"

Excellent work on the tree, snow and sky.

Hey, Rock, over here! Did you click on the image? It will take you to Flickr and there is an option to seen the largest size there. The snow was painted on (last) using opaque FW acrylic ink (white). The white was then mixed with some paynes gray and deep ultramine watercolours for shadows. Any branches "over snowed" were just gone over again in black acrylic ink. Acrylic inks are flat, so work well with watercolours. Hope this helps. - Col

Thanks for the insight into your process. Good luck on your show. Here and elsewhere, you are piquing my interest in acrylic inks. Anyway, back to the the real purpose of this post: to reiterate my admiration of your attention to detail and your ability to pull it off in such an evocative way.
